Jo Dee Messina opens up about weight loss, wellness and new music | Music City Minute

from Music City Minute

You may have heard artists, especially singers, refer to their body as their instrument, and as any good musician will tell you, it is important to take care of said instrument. With that, country icon Jo Dee Messina has made the conscious effort to maintain a finely tuned musical apparatus. Recently, the singer opened up about her life changes and new music. The 55-year-old admits her 90-pound weight loss can be difficult to maintain, especially on tour when all of the food you could possibly imagine is at your fingertips. To help offset impulsive temptations, Messina has changed her rider requirements from junk food and soda to leaner options like protein bars, water, coffee and electrolyte mixes. Additionally, the singer dedicates time every day for cardio and strength training, even if it is light. Although these changes may seem small, the CMA and ACM winner says that she feels more spiritually and emotionally alive than ever and distilled those positive vibes into a brand new album called "Bridges," dropping this summer.   I’m Sheena, and that’s your Music City Minute.
