JobsWorth - Luke Williams

On this week’s episode of JobsWorth I sit down with Luke Williams, Founder and Director of Essex Metalworx. Despite the name of his business, Luke does so much more than ‘just’ make stuff from metal. He’s honed his craft over years of trial and error, learnt new skills by watching hours of YouTube clips and built a business where he’s now in a position to start saying no to the projects he struggles to get excited about. We cover his journey from school to a job he loved in hospitality, how he found himself working in a steel yard in his early twenties and the events that led him to leaving long term employment and setting up on his own. What Luke does is hard to define. He doesn’t fit into your conventional box and from where I’m sitting it seems he doesn’t want to choose one of the options from the HUGE list of job titles society often forces us to pick from. He wants to make up his own. And that is what JobsWorth is all about. I simply describe him as someone that makes cool sh*t.
