Trots internationella protester är han dömd till döden för ett dubbelmord. Joe Hill var Gävlebon som ville hitta ett bättre liv i USA, drogs med i kampen för arbetarnas rättigheter och blev låtskrivare åt det radikala fackförbundet Industrial workers of the world.
