Es gibt einen Komiker gleichen Namens und es gibt ihn, den - wie es in den Medien gerne heißt - Popstar unter den Galeristen, den „blinden Galeristen“, so jedenfalls nannte er, der durch einen furchtbaren Unfall in seiner Kindheit fast sein komplettes Sehvermögen verlor, das Buch über sein Leben, das 1981 in Köln begann. Es waren die großen und wichtigen männlichen Künstler ihrer Zeit, die in seinem Elternhaus ein und aus gingen: Richter, Polke, Baselitz, Penck. Joseph Beuys, Herrmann Nitsch, On Kawara. Vielleicht ist das eine der Antworten, wenn man Johann König fragt, warum er unbeirrt diesen Weg wählte.
