In this chapter, Jesus shows mercy to a woman caught in sin, declares Himself to be the Light of the World, and teaches that true freedom comes through abiding in His Word. He says in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.” Later, He says in John 8:36, “Therefore if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.” This chapter reveals the mercy, authority, truth, and eternal identity of Jesus.
