John Marshall - Wide Open World

In 2010, John Marshall needed a change. He was feeling disconnected from his wife and his two teenage kids were lost in cyberspace. In an effort to pull his family back together, John proposed they take a six month trip around the world. Not the sightseeing-hotel-restaurant kind of trip, but a volunteer adventure, working with service organizations in all kinds of interesting projects. And so, they spent time at an animal sanctuary in the rainforest of Costa Rica, labored on organic farms in New Zealand, taught English in rural Thailand, fell in love with orphans in India, and worked alongside a Buddhist monk high in the Himalayas. John documents the highs and lows of this family vacation unlike any other in WIDE-OPEN WORLD (Ballantine Books; On Sale 2/10/15) John Marshall is a nine-time Emmy Award–winning writer, producer, and director. In addition to his work behind the camera, Marshall has been a familiar face on Maine television for more than ten years, writing and hosting numerous weekly TV shows. Wide-Open World is his first book. https://twitter.com/johnmarshallcom https://www.facebook.com/johnmarshallauthor Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-best-ever-you-show--5956733/support.
