Josh Hall: OC Endurance Podcast - EP3

from The Triathlon Show · host The Triathlon Show

When Josh was a young teen, his father mentioned a local middle school teacher was training for Ironman as they drove to a swim meet in Wisconsin. Intrigued, Josh asked about it, and his father explained that it involved swimming, biking, and running a long distance. Naively, Josh confidently declared that he could do it. His father, aware of the challenge, wished him luck, planting a seed of determination in Josh's mind. Josh continued to pursue his dream of becoming an elite swimmer, achieving state records and winning high school championships. He earned a scholarship to the University of Minnesota, where he excelled as a breaststroker. He achieved notable accomplishments, including qualifying for NCAA Championships and competing in the US Olympic Trials. After college, Josh represented the Philippines as a professional swimmer from 2013 to 2016. He participated in major international meets, winning multiple medals and setting national records. After retiring from swimming but still inspired by the Ironman challenge, Josh took a break from athletics but returned shortly to start training and complete his first Ironman in 2019. He currently trains in Huntington Beach, Ca. and recently set the course swim record at Ironman California and became the fastest Filipino Ironman, earning a spot in the Ironman World Championships in 2024.
