从收益率来看，余额宝号称“收益是银行活期的13.9倍”，截至近日，余额宝七日年化收益率超过6%以上已近两个月。自2013年6月刚推出的时候，余额宝的七日年化收益率自4%左右持续攀升到目前的6%以上，明显高于银行的五年定期存款收益。2月16日，余额宝的七日年化收益率为6.2980%。而从理财通公布的收益率来看，则可以“让资产增值更快，收益率可达活期16倍以上。”理财通首批合作伙伴包括华夏、易方达、广发、汇添富4家基金公司，阵容堪称豪华。2月16日的7日年化收益率为6.5430%，超过了余额宝。
