July 20 America's Suicidal Tolerance of Fraud
from Tea With George · host George Caylor, Diane Gruber, Steve Putney
July 20 America's Suicidal Tolerance of FraudA while back I was in a grocery store, a guy came up and said, "I notice you have celery and tomatoes, lettuce, and milk in your cart. May I buy it for you?" I said, "No, I'll buy my own grocery." He said, "I'll buy your food with my food stamps and you buy me cigarettes and beer with cash. It won't cost you anything to help me." I said, "You're messing up the food stamp system for everyone." (He called me a bad name and walked away!)Every dollar lost to fraud, favoritism, inflated contracts, personal enrichment is a dollar that can't be used for roads and schools, public safety, national defense, health care. Medicare fraud consumes more than 70% of all Medicare payments. Lately we saw that Somalis have robbed us of tens of billions of dollars. Fraud is a horrible thing and we have to put a stop to it.
