July 26 | The Lord Will Protect You

Today’s reading from Psalm 40–42 and Acts 27:1–26 invites us to consider where we look for security when life becomes uncertain. Both passages show people facing circumstances they can’t fully control, and they remind us that trust is formed over time as we learn to depend on God rather than the things we normally use to steady ourselves.In the Psalms, David moves through waiting, weakness, betrayal, discouragement, and renewed hope. Psalm 41 describes the Lord as the One who protects and sustains His people, forming an identity rooted not in comfort or public approval, but in the steady care of God.In Acts 27, Paul travels through increasingly dangerous conditions while others around him struggle to understand how they should respond. Paul remains aware of God’s presence and calling, even when the journey becomes threatening, and the outcome appears uncertain.Together, these passages invite us to reflect on what we’ve been depending on to carry the weight of our lives. They remind us that jobs, success, health, relationships, and recognition may change, but God remains present, attentive, and faithful.
