Zwar hat der gescheiterte Filmstudent zusammen mit Gleichgesinnten seine eigene Band, The Doors, gegründet, aber ihre Karriere droht in schäbigen Vorstadtspelunken von Los Angeles zu versanden. Drogen, Alkohol und Sex sind eben leichter zu haben als die neue, authentische Musik, von der sie gemeinsam träumen. Eines Abends sitzt ein Typ im Publikum, der dort nicht hinpasst. Seine bloße Anwesenheit stört – und Jim verliert die Nerven. Von da an wird alles anders. Hinterher nennt Jim den Fremden Hölderlin, weil er ihn an eine Zeichnung dieses vor langer Zeit im Wahnsinn verstorbenen Dichters erinnert. Jim Morrison soll im Sommer 1971 in Paris gestorben sein. Angeblich in einer Badewanne ertrunken. Doch niemand, der ihn kannte, hat seine Leiche gesehen. Vielleicht liegt ein leerer Sarg in jenem Grab auf dem Friedhof Père Lachaise, auf das viele Menschen bis heute frische Blumen legen.“ (Quelle: Braumüller Verlag) Jürgen Kaizik bringt in seinem Roman zwei Männer zusammen, die sich im realen Leben niemals hätten begegnen können. Für den Autor haben die beiden – Friedrich Hölderlin und Jim Morrison – aber viel gemeinsam. Sie versuchten zu Leben, was ihnen ihr Innerstes vorgab und sind, jeder für sich auf seine Art, daran zerbrochen. Der Autor im Gespräch mit Daniela Fürst.
