Just You Wait!

from FRESH Official Podcast · host Berni Dymet

It's not at all unusual to go through patches where you find yourself dissatisfied, stagnant, in a rut. I've certainly been there and what makes it so confusing is that you can't quite put your finger on any one thing that might be the cause of this all too common malady.  I was reading an article by Penny Timms in the press recently that provided some clarity about what's going on in the lives of so many, and I quote: It's that sense that life just isn't quite where you thought it would be by now, but it's not clinical depression or anxiety. It's languishing; a psychological term researchers are using to describe a state of joyless stagnation, emptiness and low wellbeing, without the symptoms of mental illness. I wonder if that, perhaps, resonates with you – even just a little bit. It's becoming way too common in society, and my hunch is that a lot of it comes down to the fact that we're head down, pedalling so hard at simply doing life that we've lost sight of the big picture. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as the Scriptures say, "No one has ever seen, no one has ever heard, no one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." Stand back from it all, close your eyes, take a deep breath and just savour that eternal reality. No matter what's going on in your life, no matter how you feel – even if you're languishing – if you love God, you cannot begin to imagine the wonder, the beauty, the glory of what He has in store for you for all eternity. That's His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
