Justin is an award-winning commercial director who excels at eliciting authentic performances through humorous storytelling and arresting visuals. Justin's music-driven feature film debut, Hard Luck Love Song (2021), stars Michael Dorman (Amazon's Patriot), Sophia Bush, Dermot Mulroney, Brian Sacca, Melora Walters, Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts, and hip-hop icon RZA. The script is inspired by the song "Just Like Old Times" by acclaimed singer/songwriter Todd Snider, and the film is Justin's love letter to the gritty, Americana underbelly that he was immersed in while growing up in Austin, Texas. Hard Luck Love Song had its world premiere in competition at the Austin Film Festival. The film is the Grand Jury Award Winner for Best Narrative Feature at the Portland Film Festival, with special recognition for skillful directing and riveting performances. The jury says Hard Luck Love Song is, "a true character-driven indie where...the characters are deep and textured. With artful and deft cinematography, direction, and editing, the film evokes auteurs of yore such as John Cassavetes and Hal Ashby." The film is also an official selection at Nashville Film Festival and was a finalist for Best Picture and nominated for Best Actor (Dorman), Best Supporting Actress (Bush), and Best Supporting Actor (Mulroney) at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival.
