The WA State Supreme Court ruled recently that charter schools created under the new education law I-1240 were unconstitutional. They do not fit under the definition of public schools ("common schools") as defined in the state constitution -- they do not have publicly elected governing bodies and aren't subject to the control of voters.Wayne Au was a plaintiff in the lawsuit that challenged I-1240 and is here to talk with us today.
