In Book of Isaiah 59:17, God is described as wearing righteousness as a breastplate, a helmet of salvation on His head, and being clothed with zeal as a cloak. While Paul focuses on the main pieces of armor in Epistle to the Ephesians 6, this passage reminds us that zeal—passionate devotion to God's purposes—also plays an important role in spiritual battle. In this episode of the Armor of God series, Tracy explores the idea of the cloak of zeal and why spiritual passion is essential for believers who want to stand firm in their faith. In the ancient world, a soldier's cloak served many practical purposes. It provided warmth during cold nights, protection from rain, and even bedding during long marches. Without it, a soldier would quickly become cold, exhausted, and demoralized—conditions that could weaken him before the battle even began. In the same way, spiritual zeal fuels a believer's endurance. Zeal is the passion that drives us to pursue God, remain faithful, and carry out the work He has given us to do. When believers clothe themselves with zeal for God's purposes, they are strengthened to persevere, remain motivated, and stand firm against the pressures of the world.
