Kahil El'Zabar's America the Beautiful - SKETCHES OF AN AFRO BLUE - NEW*
from SPIRITMUSE PRESENTS · host SPIRITMUSE RECORDS
https://kahilelzabar-is.bandcamp.com/ Super excited to present to you 'Sketches of An Afro-Blue', the pre-release single out today, taken from Kahil El'Zabar’ s tour de force musical statement ‘America the Beautiful’ forthcoming new LP! ✨💙 "Spiritual jazz so to speak, is the universal language that empowers love and imagination to all". The legendary Kahil El'Zabar pays homage to the spiritual jazz father, John Coltrane, with his own extraordinary, Afrocentric take on 'Afro Blue', as you've - t r u l y, never heard before! ‘Afro Blue’ (written by Mongo Santamaria, based on a Yoruba Orisha song), has been reconstructed with original arrangements written and conducted by El’Zabar, to engage the listener in an audible landscape of thoughts and emotions that transverse the greater meaning of living in these times. Taken from his tour de force musical statement ‘America the Beautiful’, the master multi-percussionist is addressing the state of America and the world today, while expressing his love and hopes for a better tomorrow. El’Zabar is arranging and conducting Afro-percussion and strings alongside an ensemble of incredible upcoming US musicians from Chicago’s vibrant scene - such as the hugely talented Corey Wilkes, James Sanders String Quartet, Joshua Ramos and Miguel de la Cerna, in captivating performances of this mind-blowing masterpiece, while illustrating El’Zabar’s phenomenal ability to produce powerful spiritual jazz with his own ‘trademark’ dynamic, engaging groove. The album speaks to the times that we are living in today, in the wake of a worldwide pandemic, despotic leadership, mass social discontent, racism and the Black Lives Matter movement, disproportionate poverty and the ecological and economic disparity of our planet, with El’Zabar highlighting the importance of music and arts in these challenging times: “It is time to express ourselves with compassionate art that will hopefully propel better and clearer thoughts about where we are now and where we are going in the future”. As we reflect on this moment in history to consider how each of us can make a difference, Kahil El’Zabar’s “America the Beautiful” speaks to the urgency and hope needed that can come with an inspirational message of powerful, spiritual music: “This is truly the way to inspire America the Beautiful to move into a collaboration of humble contributors, who share equally in the making of a bright global future!” - Kahil El’Zabar Stunning original sculpture and Art Direction by Nep Sidhu Kahil El’Zabar’s America the Beautiful OUT 23 OCT 2020 WORLDWIDE https://kahilelzabar-is.bandcamp.com/ LP • CD • DL Exclusive distribution by Redeye Worldwide ‘SKETCHES OF AN AFRO BLUE’ CREDITS Kahil El’Zabar - Producer, Composer, Arranger, Conductor Nep Sidhu – Art and Art Direction Spiritmuse Records - Executive Producers Mastered by Frank Merritt, Carvery Studio, London Kahil El’Zabar - composition /arrangements /conduction /multi-percussion /flute Corey Wilkes – trumpet James Sanders String Quartet Joshua Ramos - acoustic bass Miguel de la Cerna – keyboard © 2020 Spiritmuse Records Limited MUSIC FOR THE SPIRIT
