KAHP Commentary: March First 100 Years Review

KoreanAmericanHeritage.com presents our event review episode with many thanks to the KAHP team, guests, and supporters. We couldn't have done this without you. Here is a letter our very one John Kim wrote on KAHP behalf.    Korean American Heritage Podcast would like to thank each and every person who took the time to preregister and time out of their Saturday to attend our 100 Years of March First event yesterday. This event was for you, and it could not have been the resounding success that it was without all of your support and enthusiasm. It is our sincere hope that, through all the historical accounts, stories, and music that were shared throughout the day, you went back to your homes better informed, equipped, and encouraged to continue to seek out the absolute, unbiased truth, to never be afraid to ask the hard questions, to think and act critically, and ultimately, love yourself and others, and stand up and do what is right and just for all. We would like to extend our special thanks to everyone who helped make the event what it was: our speakers Dr. William Chu, John Cha, Dave Young Kim, Han Kim, and Flip Cuddy; our musical guests Azra, UCLA Hanoolim Poongmul - 한울림 풍물, and Charles Lee featuring Trudi Henderson; our beautiful and amazing emcees Soo Lee, Ara An, and Jessica Kwen; our emcees' traditional wardrobe sponsor Lee Hwa Wedding & Traditional Korean Dress; to all of our staff volunteers; and last but not least, to the heroes who came before us - Yu Gwan Sun, Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, Chu Yo Han and the Waseda Korean Students Association, and everyone else who risked and gave up their lives for Korea's independence and freedom. We recognize and honor their sacrifice and legacy - let us continue to do what we can to fight the good fight and preserve our heritage that our forebears fought so hard to protect. Here is the commemorative group picture that we took together yesterday. Let this be a reminder to us all to continue to love loudly and to live and do justly!
