In this week's episode, we had the opportunity to interview the lovely Katrina Shaw. Katrina is a Registered Psychologist Katrina runs a therapeutic private practice in Alberta. She also works as an Executive Mentor with Win Enterprises and is the Vice President of a new men’s mental health initiative in Calgary. Katrina has a decade of experience working with individuals and a wide range of presenting concerns. Katrina has worked closely with at-risk populations, as well as high-level executives. She has specialized training in trauma, suicide, grief, attachment, mediation and family conflict. Katrina is also a trained Yoga teacher, Reiki Master, and Somatic breathwork facilitator. Katrina is passionate about her work and aims to bring together the head with the heart, and the sacred with the science, to support both personal and professional growth and well-being. In our chat Katrina… We focus on men, men and finally men & women. More specifically we dive right into the initiative born in Calgary, AB, called “MENZ LEAGUE”. Katrina got the urge a few years ago to work with men. She wanted to help the “privileged” men, who are being pushed to the side by society with the excuse that they have it all figured out and are never in need of anything. Studies show that 75% of men are committing suicide, 35% are suffering from depression and 21% is suffering from major anxiety. According to Katrina’s experience, when you ask most of these men if everything is ok, they are super resistant in admitting otherwise. Katrina’s vision became true when she landed the role of Vice President in the MENZ LEAGUE initiative. Mission of the company is to provide a diverse group of like-minded men with a support system surrounding mental health, physical health, financial aptitude and relationships. “Together we hope to become better men”. There’s a MAN in WOMAN. Katrina explains how women can help men become the best version of themselves. Become the better men they know they are and that can only happen if women and basically any human of any gender, take a good closer look in the mirror. It all starts from within. How do we view ourselves? We have the power to create beautiful relationships with each other as long as we lead with love and have fully opened our channels of communication. Finally, Katrina answers the one and only question that all women still ask until this very day! Is it the man's responsibility to pay for the first date? Success to Katrina is: “Experiencing Life.” Katrina’s message to women is: “Come back to the self.” To connect with Katrina, find her on the following platforms: IG: @yycpsychologist @menzleague Web: www.katrinashaw.ca www.menzleague.com
