Killarney precious stones raid case postponed to 16 July.

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

Police watchdog, IPID, believes it has a strong case against the two accused arrested in connection with the alleged 2023 theft of precious metals and stones worth just under15-million rand. Ekurhuleni Metro Police officer Adrian MacKenzie and businessman Etienne van der Walt were arrested by IPID this weekend. The pair appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court earlier today, where their case was postponed to the 16th of July for a bail application. The arrests follow testimony at the Madlanga Commission, where Witness K alleged that she, suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi, and four others raided an apartment in Killarney, Johannesburg and removed the precious metals. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC News reporter Sashin Naidoo
