Kitty's Good Neighboring
from Gunsmoke: Old West Stories
Originally Aired: December 4, 1960 Gunsmoke #452, "Kitty's Good Neighboring," finds Kitty Russell stepping in to nurse an ailing neighbor, Nettie Morbin, who lives alone on an isolated prairie homestead while her husband Luke is away. Doc Adams asks for Kitty's help when he can't move Nettie to town, and Kitty willingly rides out to care for her friend. After several days of nursing, Luke unexpectedly returns home and curtly dismisses Kitty, insisting his wife no longer needs help. Though puzzled by his hostile manner, Kitty respects Nettie's wishes and leaves. When Doc asks Kitty to check on Nettie one more time before he leaves for an urgent operation in Hay City, she reluctantly makes the trip back to the Morbin place. This time, Kitty walks into a dangerous situation she doesn't fully understand. Luke's behavior grows increasingly menacing, and a stranger named Joe appears, making it clear that Kitty has stumbled onto something far more threatening than a simple sick call. Trapped at the remote homestead, Kitty finds herself a prisoner, with Nettie helpless to intervene and tensions escalating.
