In the 12 months ended December 2025, Afterpay New Zealand reported buy now pay later revenue of $119.99 million, up from $102.96 million the year before. For some New Zealanders that includes using Afterpay to buy essential goods like petrol. Poihaere Whare is a Waikato mother of four and a nursing student. She's also the co-chair of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation's National Student Unit. Whare spoke to Guyon Espiner.
