Kobayashi Marie: The Podcast – Episode 7

Picard Season 1 Episode 7 – Nepenthe Marie and Brendan return for the next instalment of the latest Star Trek series, Picard.                      Warning: We will definitely be spoiling this episode of Picard, and we have the potential to spoil episodes from other Star Trek series and films too, so please be warned. A much warmer and in some ways nostalgic episode of Picard this week, with a couple of mysteries and some sadness too. Brendan and Marie didn’t realise that mind-melds can predict the future, but it appears they can. They also didn’t realise that Romulan spies follow rules about who they can kill and when, but it appears they do. Marie inadvertently turns fashion correspondent with some costume-oriented observations, and Brendan thinks that the profanity will once again antagonise the ‘anti-Picard’ brigade. Surely there’s no such thing as ‘anti-Picard’? Never mind anti-Picard, we do have Aunty Raffi though, and we mull over her suddenly doling out cake and kindness, estimate just how much space Rios needs to take up in his captain’s chair, and are astounded at how fortunate Elnor seems to be with his hiding places. And we mourn the passing of one of our favourites – too soon, too soon – and deal with an unexpected appearance from a special studio guest.  But mostly we talk about old times – Troi and Riker welcome us into their home with pizza and a bed for the night, and we muse on whether this could have a lasting effect on Jean-Luc in more ways than one.
