Según la referencia que hace Memoria Chilena, la cueca, conocida también como chilena o marinera en otros países de América, es una danza de raigambre arábigo-andaluza. Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna postulaba que la palabra originaria fue Zambaclueca, adjudicándole así una raíz africana mezclada con elementos criollos, donde la palabra "zamba" significa baile en el idioma africano Bantú, y "clueca", la fase cuando la gallina deja de poner huevos y busca donde empollar. Hoy 18 de septiembre, celebración de las fiestas patrias chilenas escucharemos una versión de la muy conocida cueca La Consentida compuesta por Jaime Atria, que inicia esta vez con el llamado de un cajón peruano seguida de una interpretación orquestal realizada para el disco Chile Sinfónico, producción de Radio Horizonte FM grabado en 1992.
