La Plaza Cocina, The World's first Mexican Cuisine Museum - Over Eten #52 (English Spoken)

Mexican cuisine is hot and trendy and an amalgam of influences from all over the globe at different crossroads of history. At the same time, Mexican cuisine has been declared intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. It's been "discovered" (for lack of a better word) by top chefs from all over the world and even in Mexico, fine dining has started to elevate and change the perceptions of the country's many different cuisine. It's surprising then that it took this long for a Museum that is dedicated to this living cultural expression to be founded. In Los Angeles, California; La Plaza Cocina does just that. I spoke with Ximena Martin, Director of programs and culinary arts at La Plaza Cocina, about Mexican cuisine and asked her all about the ins and outs of the museum.
