"La ventana indiscreta" (Rear window - 1954) es una película estadounidense dirigida por Alfred Hitchcock, protagonizada por James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, Raymond Burr y Thelma Ritter y basada en el cuento It had to be murder (1942) de Cornell Woolrich. Fue candidata a los Oscar por Mejor director, Mejor fotografía en color, Mejor guion y Mejor sonido. Desde 1997 la película se encuentra en el National Film Registry de la Biblioteca del Congreso de Estados Unidos por ser considerada cultural, histórica o estéticamente significativa. "Con La ventana indiscreta tuve la posibilidad de hacer un film puramente cinematográfico. Por un lado, tenemos al hombre inmóvil que mira hacia fuera. Es un primer trozo del film. El segundo trozo hace aparecer lo que ve y el tercero muestra su reacción.
