Lack of Accountability: Mental Health

from The Empowering Minds Mental Health™ Podcast · host J. Moore

A lack of accountability has a huge effect on mental health. In instances where someone or something refuses to take responsibility for their actions or decisions, the effect is powerlessness, frustration, and disappointment. Individual-wise, individuals may suffer anger, resentment, and depression because they feel they've got no control over their situation or that justice will never be attained. This devalues their sense of self, leading to increased stress levels. Depending on the degree of this, mental health will manifest in the form of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and in worst cases, PTSD. 5 James:16 (NIV): "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." Galatians 6:1-2 (NIV): "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
