Die Engländerin Lady Emma Hamilton (1765-1815) galt einmal als schönste Frau ihrer Epoche. Aus ärmlichen Verhältnissen stammend stieg sie auf abenteuerlichen Wegen bis in die höchsten Gesellschaftsschichten auf, stürzte zuletzt aber ab wie Ikarus welcher mit seinen Wachsflügeln der Sonne zu nahe gekommen war.
