Lara grew up in a home marked by violence and repeated injustice. In one pivotal moment, she acted in desperation to protect herself—only to be taken away by police and labeled the aggressor. This pattern would repeat itself throughout her childhood in the Derchak home.As a child, Lara knew something was deeply wrong. Years later, she would come to understand the hidden layers of sexual and ritual abuse that had also shaped her life.Lara’s story is heartbreaking, but it is also one of hope. God became her refuge and her rescue.
