Leonard M. Adkins, known as "The Habitual Hiker," is an avid adventurer who has trekked over 20,000 miles across the backcountry regions of the U.S., Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. With five full-length hikes along the Appalachian Trail, traversals of the Continental Divide, the Pacific Northwest Trail, and parts of Canada's Great Divide Trail among his achievements, Adkins is a seasoned explorer. His writings and photographs have graced numerous publications, and he is the author of 21 books on the outdoors, travel, and nature. Adkins writes about his experiences and actively participates in them, meticulously measuring trails for accuracy in his guides and visiting all locations he describes in his travel books. Beyond his literary pursuits, he has contributed significantly to outdoor education and conservation efforts, serving in various capacities, such as a ridge runner, Appalachian Trail Natural Heritage Monitor, and a presenter of multimedia programs.
