Learning Obedience to God (050)

from The Truth Will Make You Free | Freedom in Christ Scripture Study Hosted by John | Bible Teaching on Faith without bias

We are obedient to whomever or whatever we submit to. Obedience is based upon the choices we make and every choice shows who or what we are willing to obey. Even though we don’t realise it, obedience rules every moment of our day. Consider those who are addicted to anything. Substance abuse, pornography, power, greed, money, eating, body image, adrenaline, and anything else a person can be addicted to. All of these people are addicted because they have chosen to be obedient to the things to which they are addicted. People can choose to be obedient to God. When they are, they receive the rewards of obedience, and in due course receive eternal life. But the “sons of disobedience,” as the Apostle Paul describes them, are rejected and their reward is death. There are only really two forms of obedience. We either obey God or the devil. Everything we do is a choice to be obedient to either God or the devil. And God has given all people the opportunity to choose. We all have a free will to choose God or to reject Him and our final state will be determined by the choices we make in this life, and who we obey.
