The Truth Will Make You Free | Freedom in Christ Scripture Study

Why does man sin? What is it that leads or drives man to sin? The scriptures tell us that all mankind is born under the power of sin. But there is one underlying issue that we need to consider first.This episode opens the first of the five walks with Jesus by showing the walk that all people in the world follow. All mankind are sinners and subject to sin. The first of the five walks is walking in sin, which is where every persons starts.It is important to understand this as it gives us insight into what we are trying to escape, and the magnitude of the struggle we all face. And this first part of the walk of sin is to consider the nature of man. By nature, man is sinful and sin is part of our human nature. That is why it is such a battle to overcome, and why we cannot do it alone. But there is a way through Jesus that will be opened up in due course.

We have been called to Christ to walk with Him. Walking suggests a steady forward progression to get from where we are to a preferred destination. In Christ, we are walking towards the promise of salvation and eternal life.But like many things in the Lord, the walk we take with Christ is a process. It is a progression that goes through various stages.I have identified five different stages of this walk, and this episode provides a high level overview of the five walks. In coming podcasts I will be unpacking the detail of each of these five walks to understand what they are and how we ought to navigate our walk with Jesus.

After all has been completed and the final judgement of the earth and all mankind, the reward will be given to those who chose to follow God. The final reward will be eternal life with Christ and with the Father on a new heaven and new earth in the new Jerusalem.God will roll up this old earth and universe that are subject to decay, and create a new heavens and a new earth that will not decay, rust, or degrade. There will be no sickness, no death, no ageing, and no evil in the Promised Land God has prepared for His people.In this episode we look at the final reward for those who are faithful. And I encourage all to seek God through Jesus Christ, and to inherit the reward with Him.

Every person will stand before the Judgement seat of God on the final day. But what if there was a way to bypass judgement? What if there was a way to go from this life directly into eternity? Would you be prepared to do what it takes to do that?I know I would. And there is evidence in the scriptures that this is possible. Our lives hang in the balance. You and I are being weighed by God to determine whether we are worthy of eternal life with Him, or whether we deserve eternal damnation and destruction.But how will God judge mankind? And remember EVERY SINGLE person will stand before the judgement seat of God and have to give an account of themselves.God’s process of judgement will not be built on circumstantial evidence. He will look at the hard facts of what each and every person has said and done in their lifetime to judge whether they are worthy of eternity...or not.Now is the time to learn what you need to do to enter eternity. Now is the time to understand that there is only one shot at this, and we better get it right first time.

The Bible tells us that there will be a day of reckoning when God's judgement will come upon the whole earth. Judgement Day is coming and God's eternal judgement will be served on all mankind.And unlike the courts of man, the court of heaven will have access to everything every person has said and done throughout their lifetime. Avery careless word, every unkind act, every deed that you may think nobody saw. All of it will be plain and open for every person, and especially the God who will judge you and I.When we stand before the judgement seat of God, there will be no fancy lawyers as advocate. It will be just you giving an account of your life before God. And there will be only two possible outcome. Eternal life, or eternal damnation and death.So, it is important to know what you need to do today to be judged worthy of eternal life.This episode is the first in a series to help you understand what needs to be done now. What changes any person needs to make to be accepted into the eternal habitations rather than the lake of fire.

Man is estranged from God because of sin. It is sin that stands between man and God, preventing us from being in His presence.But in the resurrection of the Christ, God is reconciling man to Himself. Those who believe in the resurrection, and enter into the death and resurrection of the Christ are reconciled to the Father. He offers them grace and salvation. He begins working transformation in them as they follow, learn and apply the teachings of Jesus Christ.And while we live in this human body that is doomed to decay and die, He is working in our spirits so we can be resurrected to be with Christ at the last trumpet. And in that resurrection we will no longer be subject to sickness, disease, weakness or death. Our bodies will be transformed from this weak human state to something new and eternal.This is the truth of the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus did not die so you could have a feed of fruit buns every year. And He was not raise from the dead so you could have a chocolate feast and a sugar high.The resurrection of Jesus is full of power. It is the point of reconciliation between man and God, where God overlooks our sin so that He can help us to be transformed. It is the means by which we receive the power to become the children of God, rather than being doomed to eternal destruction as children of this world.There is enormous power in the resurrection of Christ offering us freedom, strength, and transformation. The victory we can gain over the desires of the flesh to be made in the image of Jesus Christ come through the resurrection.And there is much, much more.

Nothing God does is without good reason and purpose. The resurrection of the Christ is no exception. In fact with respect to Christianity, it is the single most important event in history. Contrary to the way our calendar was developed, with the birth of Christ as the pivot point, it was the resurrection of the Christ that was the turning point of history. His resurrection drew the line between the days of law and the days of grace.His resurrection was the most important event in history. Not just for Christians, but for all of mankind, because it is in the resurrection of the Christ that all mankind receives hope, and the promise of salvation to eternal life.History pivots around this one event and the promises that are contained in the resurrection go much further and deeper than many Christians recognise or understand. In this episode we begin to explore the importance of the resurrection.

Many believers struggle with spiritual warfare. They battle with issues of sin, condemnation, and guilt. They sink into the depths of despair allowing the devil to tell them they are not good enough. And they hide from God.But they don’t have to suffer. Spiritual warfare and understand how to wage war in the Spirit is the power to overcome. Through using the power of the Holy Spirit and the weapons of spiritual warfare, we can have victory over the devil, victory over temptation, and victory over the desires of the flesh.The power of spiritual warfare and the weapons of spiritual warfare enable us to conquer all of our weaknesses. When we learn to use the power that God gives us, and apply the weapons of spiritual warfare, we will find the victory and strength we seek as Christians.

What is speaking in tongues? This is one of the most maligned and misunderstood aspects of the Christian message today. It is the sign of the Holy Spirit, but is often ignored, rejected, forbidden, forgotten, or not considered relevant.But speaking in tongues is a gift from God, and no gift of God is to be ignored or rejected. God only gives good gifts as we are told in Luke 11:9-13 and Matthew 7:7-11. And every gift of God is a good gift, especially the gift of speaking in tongues.This episode will unravel the mysteries surrounding this gift from God to explain from the scriptures: what is speaking in tongues, why it is important, and why every Christian needs this gift and can receive this gift from God.

How to walk in the Spirit is not something that comes natural to people. We need to learn the practical steps for daily life that will show us the way.We are all born in the flesh and learn the bad habits of a life in the flesh in this evil and compromised world that lead to sin and death. By contrast walking in the Spirit leads to eternal life and peace. But it is not the natural state for mankind to walk in the Spirit.Learning how to walk in the Spirit is critical for our Christian walk now, and our eternal life in the future. We need to know, understand, and follow the practical steps that will teach how to walk in the Spirit. When followed, these practical steps will become habits that will allow the Holy Spirit to effect a transformation in our lives, our ways of thinking, and how we act and behave so that we are changed into the image of Jesus Christ. That journey begins in this episode.

God has a plan for your life. The Bible tells us so in Jeremiah 29:11-12. But to execute God’s plan in our life is not something we can do alone. We need a guide to help us and show us the way. We need a guide who understands the things of God, the fullness of the truth, and who can teach, guide, counsel, lead, and protect us as God’s plan unfolds in our lives.God has given us the guide in the form of the Holy Spirit. And the fulfilling of God’s plan occurs as we learn how to walk in the Spirit.If we want to walk with God, we need to remember one important fact that Jesus made abundantly clear to Nicodemus in John 3:5-6, to the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4:23-24, and to His disciples in John 6:63. God is Spirit and we must learn to worship Him in spirit and truth, because the flesh is of no importance. This is why walking in the Spirit is important, and it is walking in the Spirit that will help to fulfill God’s plan for your life.

What is walking in the Spirit? Christians often talk about gaining victory over the flesh. But many still suffer with weaknesses they can’t control. They suffer from fear, guilt, self-condemnation, guilt, and addictions to various passions, lusts, and desires. And don’t forget those emotions that that run wild from time to time.And as Christian we know these things cause us grief. They do not support our walk with Christ and too often take us down the opposite path.Walking in the Spirit is how we overcome all of these things and much, much, more. It is how we walk with Christ, draw closer to God, and are transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. This episode begins this journey by explaining what walking in the Spirit is with a clear biblical explanation.

It is one thing to talk about who the Holy Spirit is, and why we should receive the Holy Spirit. But how do we receive the Holy Spirit?There are many teachings in the modern church about receiving the Holy Spirit, and sadly many of them are incorrect and misleading. Because of this there are many Christians who believe that they have received the Holy Spirit, when in fact they have not.This episode addresses some of these misconceptions, but more importantly it explains what the scriptures tell us about how to receive the Holy Spirit.

Why receive the Holy Spirit? There are indeed many reasons why every Christian should seek to receive the Holy Spirit.This episode is the second part of this topic. The first part looked at the broad, high level reasons why receive the Holy Spirit. This episode looks at the more personal reasons for receiving the Holy Spirit.

Why should Christians receive the Holy Spirit? I know many Christians believe they already have the Holy Spirit, but most of them are wrong. They are wrong because they have not been correctly taught what it means to receive the Holy Spirit.There are many reasons why we receive the Holy Spirit. Some of those reasons are very broad and high level reasons, while others are quite personal. Who can receive the Holy Spirit? And indeed, who is the Holy Spirit? How are we set free from the law? What is freedom from law? It is something that Christians speak about, but it is evident from their behaviour that many do not understand it. Jesus came to set man free from sin, and scripture tells us that sin is the breaking of the law. So, if we are to be truly set free from sin, we need to also be set free from the law. This episode begins to examine this important teaching in the Bible.

Why do we need freedom from sin? Simply put, it is because sin stands between man and God. If we want to live with God and please Him, then we must be set free from sin. And God wants His people to not be subject to sin. This episode explores and explains this matter in detail.

In this session we look at whay it is important to be baptised. And there are many reasons why this is necessary. This will also put to bed some of the errors and myths about baptism so that Christians can seek and find the truth.

There are many differing opinions in the church about how and when a person should be baptised. Some baptise children, some baptise only when the person is a long-standing christians, and some don't baptise at all. Likewise there are different methods of baptism. But what does the Bible say? What is the truth about when and how a person should be baptised? In this episode we look at what the scriptures have to say to dispel the false teachings and errors concerning this important part of the Christian walk.

In this second episode on what is righteousness by faith we continue delving into this critical doctrine of the church. The truth of Christianity includes the fact that there is no righteousness apart from the righteousness given by God through faith. Without faith, we cannot be righteous in the eyes of God.

Understanding righteousness by faith is critical for all Christians. Too many still try to seek righteousness through works, just as the people of Israel were doing in Jesus' time. But Christ came so that we could receive the free gift of righteousness by faith from God, when we believe He raised Jesus from the dead. We will begin exploring what righteousness by faith is in this episode.

The free gift of righteousness by faith is available to everyone who comes to Christ. And it is more than just a free gift. It is an essential part of the process to become a Christian and to be able to walk with Christ and come into the presence of God.There is nothing we can do to take this gift. We cannot buy it, do anything to get it, train for it, or anything else. It is a free gift from God to be received by and through faith.But this gift is given to us for a reason. It is not some random act of kindness by God. He gives us this gift so that we can come into His presence and so that we can receive the fullness of what He offers. So, in this episode we continue the second part of WHY it is important to receive the free gift of righteousness by faith from God.

One of the most incredible gifts that God has given to man is the free gift of righteousness by faith. We can’t buy it, work for it, offer anything for it, or anything else. It is a free gift from God for all who believe. We need this gift from God for every aspect of our walk with Christ. It is necessary every minute of every day to receive and hold fast to this free gift of righteousness by faith. In this episode we will look at WHY we need this gift.

Repentance is fundamentally about change. It is about changing how we think and therefore how we behave, because all behaviour begins with a thought. Repentance is the first step to forgiveness. If we seek forgiveness, we must first repent, recognising we have done wrong, and then seek to make it right.This episode looks at how to repent.

Who needs repentance? There are people in the world who don't think they do need to repent of anything. But when we come to Christ and learn the truth of this life, we find that those who have sinned are the ones who need to repent. And that means everyone. We all need to repent if we are to come to God and receive His salvation in Jesus Christ, and all of the promises to those who follow Him.

It is one thing to know what repentance is, but why should we repent? Why repent? The fundamental reason for repenting is to find a way to live in God's love. You cannot be a Christian until and unless you repent. But there are a number of other reasons why we should repent that are covered in this episode.

What is repentance? That is the topic covered in this episode. Repentance is many things. It is an appeal to God for forgiveness. It is also by virtue of the Greek word translated as repentance, a process to change your thinking. To repent is to change the way that you think; to turn away from evil and turn towards God. You cannot begin to be a Christian unless and until you have faith towards God. You must first believe God exists and that He rewards those who believe in His existence.The reality of the faith we hold in and toards God is quite simple, at least in the initial stages. You do not have to believe a lot to receive salvation.But as we grow in Christ, we increase in knowledge and so our faith grows too. Listen to find out more...

No building can stand up to the storms of this world if it does not have a solid foundation, built upon the rock. So too, a Christian must have a solid foundation if they are to stand against the raging storms and fires of this life. The only foundation there is that will enable a person to stand strong, is the foundation of Jesus Christ. When we learn and grow in His words, we will stand strong.

It is important to know what you believe. In this day and age there are a myriad of views, opinions, ideas, and doctrines in the church. Not all of them are true. If the doctrine is not supported by the treuth of the scriptures, it should be rejected. Listen now to find out more.

Why seek Christ? All religions offer their followers something, so if we are to come to Christianity, it should offer something better. And it does.
