Learning with Soul in Amsterdam || Debbie Keijner

from The Regeneration Lab · host Bas van den Berg

In this episode of The (Re)generative Education Podcast I chat with  Debbie Keijner, co-founder of Soul.com and teacher at the University of Amsterdam where she teaches a course 'beyond the culture of contest’ with honour students. With Soul she designs, facilitates and runs capacity building trainings that allow people to develop their soul-driven leadership capacity. The ability to actively listen from a place of curiosity and host meaningful conversations that can result in systemic change and action. She brings her perspective of education for good in practice in both formal and non-formal settings and openly invites anyone to join one of the many free sessions that Soul hosts throughout the year and across the globe.  In this discussion the following systemic barriers and opportunities emerged:  The Hybrid nature of capacity building programmes – acting both as consultant and educator for example.   The importance of walking a path together to facilitate co-learning instead of the more traditional hierarchy of teacher-student relationships.  Learning happens in the broader place and the classroom is only used to bring back, reflect and share.  The audacity of removing competition from the higher educational setting.   Finishing a course with a single output for an entire cohort, such as 1 final report, performance or such and the power that comes with this.  The importance of giving both space and attention to both content and process design for educational experiences that involve action-based research. The power of having top down support for educational innovations and transdisciplinarity approaches for education.    The power of inviting others to join you in passionate action.  External Links Home - soul.com Updates van soul.com | Facebook (1) soul.com: overzicht | LinkedIn (1) Debbie Keijner | LinkedIn
