Lend a Hand

from Restoration: Where New Life Begins · host John Baldwin

In the Bible, the phrase “Right Hand” is used over 160 times, in four different ways. Here, let me explain.· Literal •· Direction •· Honor •· Strength •Sometimes, when “Right hand” is used, it is referring simply to the right hand of the individual—the literal right hand. This is seen in Genesis 48:18—”Joseph said to him, “No, my father, this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”Sometimes, the use of the right hand or the left hand indicated the direction of a person or place. Numbers 22:26 states, “Then the angel of the Lord moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right hand or to the left.”Sometimes, the use of the term “right hand” indicates a locationof honor. Hebrews 12:2 states, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pio- neer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”Sometimes, the “Right Hand” clearly signifies assistance, help, strength, or support in times of great need. Isaiah 41:13 states, “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.In the day in which we live, we would be wise to recognize that Godis extending his right hand out to us in the midst of our hardships. He is not there to condemn, or tear down, but He is there to provide hope and strength in the midst of hardship. He is there to guide and direct our paths, and place us beside Himself. Let us simply surrender to Him today and trust that no matter what is happening, He is not caught off guard. He is there saying, “Give me Your Hand!”Support the show
