LER16. Business English for Economics

from Learn English with Ruth Podcast · host Ruth Ejimanya

LER16. Business English for Economics. As I have done in LER15, this new Episode is also divided into “Part A” and “Part B”. In Part A, I tell the story of Chike and Amira. The story is set in 2021, a period when Nigeria as a country and the world at large was recovering from the big blow dealt by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Chike as an aspiring entrepreneur was full of enthusiasm and launched a new business- A logistics company without the right strategic planning and risk mitigation or contingency plans. His business soon hit rocks because it was largely dependent on importation and unfavourable Government monetary policies. Amira his friend (a business guru) who had been sounding thaw warnings in his ears from day one was able to save the day and help the business to bounce back. In Part B, Using the story as the premise, I explain some key concepts in Economics as used in the story. It’s indeed an interesting ride.
