Lessons from the Psalms - Psalm 4

Welcome to Lessons from the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Psalm 4. We will break it down verse by verse and explore what David is trying to get across to us. First of all, Psalm 4 is linked to Psalm 3. They may have either been written at the same day, or maybe one day apart. The second thing we notice is that the Psalm was written to the chief musician. This tells us that this is the first psalm that was meant to be sung to whoever it was meant for. It also tells us that it was to be accompanied by stringed instruments. In verse 1 we will feel the strong connection that David has with his God. In verses 2-5 it appears that David is interceding for the unbelievers of his time, and pleading with them to put their trust in God - as he is telling us today (that we are to put our trust in God as well). In verses 6-8 David is implying that, only by having a close, intimate relationship with God will we fell genuine joy, deep peace, and the feeling that we can abide in safety.
