Letter - People Power United joined coalition efforts to send a letter to all Members of Congress to Tax Greedy Billionaires

from Power to the People · host People Power United and Laurie Woodward Garcia

People Power United joined coalition efforts to send a letter to all members of Congress to Tax Greedy Billionaires. Shout out to People's Action, MoveOn, ATF, and Tax the Greedy Billionaires for leading this effort. Here is the letter sent on behalf of our membership:TO: Members of CongressRE: Tax The Billionaires NowAmerica is in crisis as Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, undertakes a hostile takeover of our government. In fact, just 800 billionaires control over $6.22 trillion—more wealth than the bottom half of all American households combined. This concentration of wealth and power is threatening the health and safety of everyday people, unleashing a constitutional crisis, and wreaking havoc across our society.Billionaires are flooding our political system with money to gut consumer protections. They're profiting from fossil fuels as extreme weather devastates our communities. Their investment firms are gobbling up family homes, jacking up rent and putting homeownership out of reach for working Americans. Their private equity takeovers of healthcare facilities are extracting profits and taking more of our money while denying us care.Your constituents are sending you a clear message: Congress must confront this dangerous concentration of wealth head-on. Don't slash programs that working families depend on—tax the greedy billionaires now.The American Dream is dying in a system where unlimited wealth for the few destroys opportunity for all.Signed,NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONSPeople's ActionMoveOnTax the Greedy Billionaires20/20 VisionAccountable.USAmericans for Democratic Action (ADA)Americans for Financial ReformAmericans for Tax FairnessCampaign for America’s FutureCare in ActionCenter for Biological DiversityCenter for LGBTQ Economic Advancement & Research (CLEAR)Coalition on Human NeedsColor Of ChangeCommunity Change ActionCongregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, U.S. ProvincesDemocrats AbroadDemosEconomic Security Project ActionEngage ActionEndangered Species CoalitionExcessive Wealth Disorder InstituteFood & Water WatchGreen Workers AllianceIncome MovementInstitute for Policy Studies, Inequality ProgramInstitute for Policy Studies, Poverty ProjectIronpacMomsRisingNational Advocacy Center of the Sisters of the Good ShepherdNational Domestic Workers AllianceNational Women's Law CenterNETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social JusticeOur RevolutionOxfam AmericaP StreetPeople Power UnitedPopular DemocracyPowerSwitch ActionPublic Advocacy for Kids (PAK)Public CitizenResponsible WealthRight to the City AllianceRootsAction.orgShowing Up for Racial JusticeState Revenue AllianceStrong Economy For All CoalitionTake on Wall StreetThe Action LabUnitarian Universalists for Social JusticeUnited for a Fair EconomyUnrig Our EconomyVoices for ProgressSTATE & LOCAL ORGANIZATIONSArkansas Citizens First CongressArkansas Public Policy PanelAsbury UMC DCCatholic Daughters Court #931Center for Health Progress (Colorado)Communities United For Action (Ohio)Community Voices Heard Power (New York)Connecticut Citizen Action Group (CCAG)Chicago Women Take ActionChurch Women United in New York StateCitizen Action of WisconsinColorado People’s AllianceFourth Branch Action (Washington)Ground Game LAHawaii Children's Action Network Speaks!Honest ArizonaIndivisible ChicagoIndivisible Fairfield County, CTIndivisible Georgia CoalitionIndivisible MarinIndivisible Northern NevadaIowa Citizens for Community ImprovementLake County Center for Independent Living (disability rights)Maine People's AllianceNew Hampshire Youth MovementProgressive Democrats of America - VirginiaProgressive Leadership Alliance of NevadaProgressive MarylandRights & Democracy (Vermont & New Hampshire)San Francisco RisingTakeAction MinnesotaThe People's Lobby (Illinois)Upper West Side Action GroupWest Virginia Citizen Action Group***People Power United is a reader-supported publication.
