Lianne La Havas • Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip #319

from Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip

Welcome, welcome, welcome to EPISODE 319 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! A beautiful chat this week with the truly wonderful singer songwriter LIANNE LA HAVAS!This one was recorded pre-apocalypse so it was a real life face to face interaction (seriously, do you remember those…?), and as such I think you’ll really enjoy this even more than usual as Pip and Lianne get along great, and that’s been a true strength of the Distraction Pieces Podcast - the face to face element of it all. Well, while that may temporarily alter here and there, the fact of the matter is that Lianne is a beautiful presence and it’s a joy to hear her talk about her experiences in the music game, along with the wisdom she’s gained along the way. Everything from being on a label as opposed to being indie, the weird stage between writing and performing, emotions and process behind the record, unconventional family setups, being a shy kid and keeping her skills behind closed doors for a good chunk of her childhood years, being raised by her Jamaican grandparents as well as her education and interests, oh and also - I mean take this with a grain of salt and act all aloof or whatever but she was also really good mates with Prince. I mean, like, whatever. Y’know. Of course if there was a font colour for sarcasm the last couple of sentences would be glowing right now. MADNESS.
