In aktuellen Umfragen liegt die Partei unter der Fünf-Prozent-Hürde und würde damit aus dem Parlament ausscheiden. Die jüngste Abstimmung zum Zustrombegrenzungsgesetz hat Spannungen in der Partei offengelegt: Während Lindner das Gesetz – auch mit Stimmen der AfD – unterstützen wollte, sind 23 von 90 Fraktionsmitgliedern von diesem Kurs abgewichen. Ob Lindners Führungsposition nun infrage steht, erklärt ZEIT-ONLINE-Politikredakteur Ferdinand Otto, der beim Parteitag dabei ist. Russlands Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine, die angespannte Lage im Nahen Osten und der neue Kurs der US-Regierung unter Präsident Donald Trump – die deutsche Verteidigungspolitik steht vor großen Herausforderungen.
