All of a sudden, anyone who is connected to a Brain Injury, their life becomes a little MoCrazy. A Brain Injury does shut some doors, but it also opens doors. This show will be talking to survivors, caregivers, therapists, anyone immediately involved with a Brain Injury to learn different ways to overcome this struggle and walk through new doors. Every single person who had a Brain Injury has new doors opened for them, take a leap of faith and walk through those doors. On June 9th I will be interviewing Dr. Mypinder Sekhon from the Vancouver General Hospital.Dr. Mypinder Sekhon, MD, is an intensive care physician and neurointensivist in the intensive care unit at Vancouver General Hospital. Specifically we will be talking about the “brain bolt.”  The “brain bolt” can be described as a sort of thermometer for the brain -- continuously measuring oxygen, nutrients and the pressure in the skull -- instead of doctors waiting for CT scans every 48 hours. Studies show head trauma patients with this kind of monitoring are more than twice as likely to have a full recovery and avoid severe disabilities. In fact, doctors attribute the “brain bolt” to the miraculous recovery of patients like me.  I was the first patient to receive the “brain bolt on April 11, 2015.
