Life is a Wilderness | Psalm 81

This psalm remembers God’s divine intervention in the wilderness so his people might live. The wilderness, or desert, cannot support human life. Similarly, this world in which we live cannot fulfill our deepest longings. So just like God’s people needed divine intervention, we too need divine intervention. It comes in the form of a struck rock (Christ!) who gives us life-giving water for our souls. Reflection How have you mistakenly sought satisfaction in this desert life for your deepest needs?
