Light in Darkness

from Trauma Transformation Adoptee · host Shanta Ogwe with Trauma Transformation Global Ministries, INC

Season 1, Episode 12, is with special guest, Rae. Rae shares her story of going from foster care at 3 years old to be adopted into a codependent home where her parents were terrified that she would become a substance abuser user like her biological mother. The scrutiny followed her everywhere, and she spent much of her life trying desperately to meet their expectations, figure out what was 'wrong' with her, and find a way to be accepted. Instead, Rae experienced emotional, spiritual, and sexual abuse. She completely lost her identity when she broke off an engagement and walked away from religion as a senior in college. Today, Rae is working to reclaim her voice and discover herself. Along the way, she found a passion for mental health literacy, self-exploration, and storytelling. She began a certification for addiction and abuse recovery coaching to put her desires to use. To learn more about Rae or to follow her, she is on Instagram @adoptee_reclaimed. Stay tuned until the end to hear My 2 Cents on codependency.
