Lili Boulanger, compositora de talento prodigioso hermana de la famosa maestra Nadia Boulanger que formo algunas de las mentes más brillantes del S. XX como Aaron Copland, Elliott Carter, Astor Piazzolla y Philip Glass entre otros, fue la primera mujer en conquistar el codiciado premio de Roma de la composición. Su obra se limita a los últimos 10 años de su trágicamente corta vida (murió a los 25) publicando alrededor de 30 obras. Lo que escucharemos hoy, el Nocturno para violín y piano, escrita en estilo impresionista nos presenta una melodía para violín inquietantemente hermosa con reminiscencias del Preludio para la siesta de un fauno de Debussy y el Tristán e Isolda de Wagner.
