Lindsay Clancy: Could A Blood Test Have Changed Everything?

from True Crime Today | Daily True Crime News & Interviews · host Real Story Media

Kevin Reddington spent hours cross-examining Dr. Jennifer Tufts on Day 10 of Lindsay Clancy's trial, and one line of questioning kept circling back to a test that was never run. Tony Brueski breaks down exactly what Tufts declined to order, and what she said when Reddington pushed on it. Tufts testified all fourteen of her appointments with Clancy happened over video, that she never spoke to Clancy's parents, and that she couldn't access records from a separate perinatal clinic Clancy was attending because she never asked Clancy to sign a release. Reddington also pressed her on a treatment she considered but couldn't prescribe outpatient, and on a 2021 study linking thyroid function to postpartum psychosis that she hadn't read. Midway through, he stopped and told her she was a doctor trying to do the right thing. The episode also covers testimony from Dr. Alia Goodheart, who treated Clancy at McLean Hospital and acknowledged she doesn't believe she's ever treated a patient with postpartum psychosis, and from Dr. Sejal Shah, a prosecution witness who agreed a person can communicate and make plans while in a state of psychosis. Both Tufts and Goodheart testified they never knew Clancy had called a crisis line twice, calls that appear in Clancy's own civil filings. The prosecution's cross drew out that Clancy booked her own appointments, drove herself to an emergency room, and never showed a sign of psychosis in front of Tufts. Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder.
