The foundation of the prophet Jeremiah's life was built upon God's original choosing; his calling did not look to human approval, but stemmed solely from the God who knew him before he was even in the womb. God called him to uproot and tear down, as well as to build and plant. Sometimes, tearing down is not destruction, but a preparation for God to rebuild. We do not need to become a version of someone else; we only need to return to our original calling and become the self that God has sent. Let us learn to discern God's still, small, yet clear voice—not running away when it is time to tear down, and standing courageously when it is time to build—becoming a faithful voice that carries grace and truth in this generation.
