Weiner is an acclaimed American musical theatre composer known for award-winning Off-Broadway and regional productions. His notable works include Iron Curtain (winner of the 2006 ASCAP Foundation Mary Rodgers Award), newyorkers (Manhattan Theatre Club, The ASCAP Richard Rodgers Award), Rocket Science (Richard Rodgers Award), The Hudsucker Proxy (Jonathan Larson Grant) Once Upon A Time In New Jersey (Richard Rodgers Award and The Global Search for New Musicals Award ) and The Honeymooners (PaperMill Playhouse). He is a veteran of the BMI and Dramatists Guild workshops. His newest musical Monte Cristo tells the epic story of a man wrongfully imprisoned who returns richer, wiser, and bent on vengeance. But as his carefully orchestrated plan unfolds, he must face the ultimate question: is justice enough without love? Developed in The York's New2NY series, this production reunites the writer of Desperate Measures (Drama Desk winner for best music and lyrics) and the team that brought you Penelope for a thrilling tale of revenge, redemption, and enduring romance. Monte Cristo starts previews March 12th at The York Theatre, Theatre at St. Jean's, 150 East 76th Street.
