Living With the "Isms",

from What She Said! · host Candace Sampson

I first heard of my next guest when I read a Huffington Post article about his fears raising black sons during this time. It became quickly apparent thought that it’s not just the systemic racism of being black that Avi deals with on a daily basis but the that he is living with ALL the isms, seriously, almost every one. Trans, black, Jewish, in an interracial relationship to a gay woman, adoptive parent to two children with developmental hurdles in the form of fetal alcohol syndrome and autism. Honestly, some days my day can be derailed if it’s raining. Reading this story I just had to know more about him and how he gets through the day with so much external pressure and sadly hatred thrown his way. As it turns out with a great deal of empathy and a calling to teach others how to treat LGBTQ kids with kindness and equality. Meet Avi Magdisohn. Learn more about your ad choices.
