Un día como hoy pero en el año 1896, el compositor austríaco Anton Bruckner, nos cuenta Clemency Burton-Hill componía un precioso y fascinante motete para cuatro voces sin acompañamiento. Dicha obra fue escrita por el compositor para la consagración de la capilla votiva de la nueva catedral de Linz, de la que había sido organista. Bruckner, hombre de ferviente fe pero también de dudas sobre ella, se sentía fascinado por las complejidades compositivas del contrapunto renacentista. La obra que escucharemos a continuación, en las voces del Coro Tenebrae dirigido por Nigel Short, el motete Locus iste que traduce Este lugar, constituye un punto de reflexión sobre la creencia de que en la música – y en la vida-, no hay nada más poderoso que las voces humanas juntas, en combinación.
