Longings and Liturgies
from All Saints Church Podcast · host All Saints Church San Diego
Paul ends his letters to the Ephesians with a blessing of grace to all who love Jesus with "incorruptible love." This is beautiful, but it also implies that our loves can be corrupted. In fact, what we love and long for are constantly being shaped by our spiritual habits–or lack thereof. As we transition into a new series called POSTURES, we discuss the transformative power of worship, not just as a musical genre but as a whole-life response to God's love. Drawing from the Psalms, we see how honest expressions of longing and lament can lead to renewed hope and trust in God, reorienting our hearts towards him in the midst of our daily struggles and anxieties. Our spiritual habits are important because they shape our deepest desires, so we must consistently bring our rival longings before the Lord in worship. Join us as we reflect on the question Jesus posed to His first disciples, and still asks us today: "What do you want?"
