Loosening time's grip
from spiritual principles made practical's podcast · host Scott Friedman
As I grow in my acceptance of what is true, I become increasingly accepting of the fact that the present moment is the only moment that exists. Time only exists when I create it in the present moment. If I'm not thinking in terms of time, it doesn't exist. When I am thinking of time, I'm doing it in the present moment, the only moment that exists. This understanding is freeing. Because of this understanding I realize I create my entire world in the present moment with my mind. If I change my mind my entire world changes in that instant. The idea of incremental growth or improvement is just an idea in the mind. It's only true if we make it so. We can, and have, change our world in an instant. I think about the instant I met my wife. My world changed in that instant. I create time so I can enjoy reflecting back on that time. As soon as my attention goes elsewhere, that event ceases to exist. Time is just one of the infinite creations of the mind. The more we understand how the mind works, the more control we have over what it creates. It's creating all the time, largely directed by unconscious thoughts. We have the power to move thoughts from the unconscious to the conscious. That and the capacity to choose which thoughts to act on is true freedom. I offer thought coaching for leaders who want to grow their conscious capacity to make a greater and more uplifting contribution to themselves and the world. We are very conscious and intentional of how narrow or broad we choose our thinking to be in the coaching sessions. The first session is free.
