Loss 17/101: Loss of multiple pregnancies: Lori Alcorn

from The Silent Why: finding hope in grief and loss · host Chris Sandys, Claire Sandys, Lori Alcorn

#024. This episode is the first in a small series of three, exploring the different stages that can all fall within 'loss of a baby'. From childlessness through to the death of a newborn, loss of a baby is tragically the story of many people, but the experiences, and types of loss attached, vary greatly. This is The Silent Why, a podcast on a mission to open up conversations around loss and grief and to see if hope can be found in 101 different types of loss.Although in this podcast we don't normally focus too much on one area of a loss consecutively, we felt it was important to show just how many different experiences can be bundled together, in what most people would group as one type of loss.Loss #17 of 101 - Loss of multiple pregnancies. In this episode we chat to the joy filled Lori Alcorn, all the way from Winnipeg in Canada. Lori's dream of being a mother started very young, even being nicknamed a 'baby whisperer' for her natural love and ability with children. She never dreamed she'd be faced with a diagnosis of 'unexplained infertility' after multiple early stage miscarriages left her without the family she dreamed of.But Lori's determination to cling to hope, despite the rollercoaster ride it dragged her on, and her commitment to her marriage and faith, have led her through the hard times, to a path of joy she never expected from the childless life. And she's published a book to help others stuck in the infertility space, feeling like they have no answers.Through Lori's beautiful writing she published 'The Pregnant Pause; Finding positivity when all the results are negative', in 2019, charting her journey through uncertain times with infertility. For more about Lori:https://www.atalossinfertility.com/ https://www.instagram.com/ataloss_infertilitysupportshttps://www.facebook.com/atalossinfertilitysupportsBlog: https://www.atalossinfertility.com/blog Purchase Lori's book in paperback or ebook:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pregnant-Pause-Finding-positivity-negative/dp/1772802409 Send us Fan MailSupport the show-----thesilentwhy.com  |  Instagram  |  Facebook  |  Twitter  |  LinkedIn What's a Herman? / Buy a Herman - thehermancompany.comSupport the show: buymeacoffee.com/thesilentwhySign-up to my mailing list (only used for sharing news occasionally!): thesilentwhy.com/newsletterHow to talk to the grieving:  thesilentwhy.com/post/howtotalktothegrievingReview the show: Apple Podcasts  |  Spotify  |  GoodpodsEpisode transcripts: thesilentwhy.buzzsprout.comThank you for listening.
